Adolph W. Scruggs

Adolph W. (Acer) Scruggs, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:28 P.M., Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Acer was a retired machinist at the Arch of Illinois Coal Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin, Loyal Soldiers Sunday School Class and was chairman of the ushers. He was a member of the Du Quoin Masonic Lodge and the UMW of A Local 1392. He was a US Navy veteran of W.W. II.
He was born July 26, 1924 at Memphis, TN the son of Adolph W. and Dorothy (Smith) Scruggs.
He married Wanda L. Heisner on August 14, 1943 at the United Methodist Church in Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, son- Gary Scruggs and wife Elaine of Du Quoin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Rev. Gene Scruggs.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, August 18, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Masonic services were conducted at 7 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home by the Du Quoin Masonic Lodge.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin.
